Marsha Louise Likens Schmoe, 61, Baldwin City, Kan., died Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, at Richmond Care Center.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Friends may pay their respects to Mrs. Schmoe after 1 p.m. Thursday to the service hour at Dengel & Son Mortuary, where the family will meet with friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kan.

Marsha was born Thursday, Feb. 21, 1952, in Topeka, Kan., the daughter of Gilbert Duane and Nadine Marie (Faulk) Likens.

She grew up in Topeka and lived several places, including Lawrence, Kan., before moving to Ottawa in 1990 and to rural Baldwin City in 1999.

Marsha graduated from Seaman High School in Topeka, with the class of 1970 and from Ottawa University, where she majored in economics, graduating in 1993 with a B.A.

She worked as a manager at several convenience stores and for a while at Country Mart as a cake decorator.

Marsha was a former member and past president of Aerie Lodge #2700 Auxiliary, Fraternal Order of Eagles in Ottawa.

On Sept. 14, 2006, Marsha was united in marriage with Merlin Schmoe in Wichita, Kan. He survives of their home.

Survivors include her husband, Merlin Schmoe, Baldwin City, Kan.; two sons, Daniel J. Bourne Jr., Florida, and Parrish E. Bourne, El Dorado, Kan.; step-son, Bradley Schmoe, Albany, Ill.; mother, Nadine Kelly, Topeka, Kan.; sister, Kathy Marolf and husband Rick, Topeka, Kan.; brother, Gary Likens and wife Carey, Topeka, Kan.; and step-sister, Leslie May Pruyn, Aurora, Ill.

Marsha was preceded in death by her father, Gilbert D. Likens; and step-father, Prentis Kelly.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Southern Care Hospice or Richmond Healthcare in care of Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory St., Ottawa KS 66067.
