Joanne N. (Langdon) Schick, 80, Harrisonville, Mo., died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Mo.

Funeral services are planned for 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at the United Methodist Church in Harrisonville with burial in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville. Visitation is set for 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville.

Joanne was born May 16, 1933, in Wichita, Kan., the daughter of Raymond and Pauline (Shults) Harvey.

She was a graduate of Ottawa High School and had received a bachelor’s degree in nursing in 1954.

Joanne married John H. Schick July 16, 1953, in Augusta, Ga.

She worked for Johnson County Health Department for 10 years before retiring in 1991.

She was a member of the Harrisonville United Methodist Church and taught Precepts Bible Class from 1992 until the present. She also was a volunteer at the Harrisonville Elementary School and was a previous member of the Harrisonville BPW.  

Joanne was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Bill Langdon; two step-fathers; and one niece, Alissa Langdon.

Survivors include her husband, John, of the home; one son, John Schick and his wife, Diane Cooper-Schick, Bellingham, Wash.; two daughters, Cynthia Ernst and her husband, Donald, Lee’s Summit, Mo., and Sue Couture and her husband, Mark, Citrus Heights, Calif.; one brother, Bob Langdon and his wife, Margie, Parkville, Mo.; two sisters, Rebecca McRobbie and her husband, Michael, Greensboro, Ga., and Beverly Langdon Bishop, Ashville, N.C.; and six grandchildren, Jonathan, Andrew, Elizabeth, Natalie, Erin and Emily.

Joanne loved teaching Precepts Bible Study, pink roses, and helping the less fortunate among us.

She was a friend to many and will be missed by all.
