Donald Earl Randel, 92, Pomona, passed away Sept. 11, 2013, at Wellsville Retirement Community, Wellsville, Kan.

A memorial visitation is planned for 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at the Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, Ottawa.

He was born May 16, 1921, in Pomona, the son of Leslie Randel and Frances (Hagen) Randel.

Donald was a lifelong Pomona resident, graduating from Appanoose High School with the class of 1939.

He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1942, and served his country during World War II as a mechanic instructor until his honorable discharge in 1945.

Donald was a lifelong service technician for various appliances at several hardware stores in Ottawa, including Malottes Hardware and Cliff Reynolds Hardware.

Donald was united in marriage with Reba Irene Coffman Jan. 16, 1947, in Pomona. They shared more than 40 years of marriage until her death April 28, 1987.

He also was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Frank Randel; and sister, Carol Hefling.

Survivors include his children, Gayle Dempsey and her husband, Bill, Baldwin City, and Margaret Lee Mitchell and her husband, David, St. Charles, Mo.; four grandchildren, Lisa Mitchell, Springfield, Mo., Jennifer Wilkinson and her husband, John, Baldwin City, Jonathon Dempsey and his wife, Heather, Overbrook, and Jami Williams and her husband, Chris, Baldwin City; and six great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Justin, Ruby, Dalton, Quinn and Wyatt.
