Larry Eugene McMechan, 67, Princeton, Kan., passed away Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013, at Olathe Medical Center.

Cremation is planned. A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at the Princeton Community Building, Princeton, Kan.

Larry was born Thursday, Oct. 11, 1945, in Tonganoxie, Kan., the son of Clarence and Vera (Kramer) McMechan Jr., the fourth of 12 children.

Larry was a longtime Douglas County, Lawrence, Kan., resident, moving to Franklin County where he lived in Lane and Princeton since 2010.

Larry’s first marriage to Shirley Jones in 1966, ended in divorce.

He married Madonna Burmmer in 1976. They later divorced.

Larry worked many years as a truck driver with Lawrence Ready Mix, the City of Ottawa and Hillside Salvage in Lawrence.

Survivors include his three children, Rhonda McMechan, Ottawa, Ronald McMechan, Princeton, and Robin Wilson and husband, Brian, Princeton; five grandchildren, Craig McMechan, Richard, Aaron and Troy Wilson, and Chelsea Johnson; six great-grandchildren, Gabe and Gavin McMechan, Lilly and Mira Wilson, and Kylee and Oren Johnson; siblings, Donald McMechan and wife, Carolyn, South Greenfield, Mo., Wilma Hall and husband, Gene, Stanley McMechan and wife, Donna, Marilyn Burns, Leland McMechan and wife, Janelle, Sherry Feurt and husband, James, and Clinton McMechan and wife, Nancy, all of Lawrence.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, Wesley, Carl, Glen and Gene McMechan.
