CAROLYN ‘SUE’ EVERSON

Carolyn “Sue” Everson, 67, Woodward, Okla., formerly of Ottawa, Kan., passed away Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013.

Funeral services are planned for 2 p.m. today, Oct. 17, 2013, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. Friends could pay their respects to Mrs. Everson after 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, where family members planned to meet with friends 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Interment is set for Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kan.

Sue was born Nov. 3, 1945, in Ottawa, the daughter of Joe and Lenore (Hartpense) Scott.

She was a near-lifelong Ottawa resident, living in Woodward, Okla., for the past eight years.

She attended Ottawa High School with the class of 1963.

Sue was united in marriage with Danny Everson Oct. 21, 1998, in Princeton, Kan. He survives of their home.

Sue worked as the executive director of the Outreach Homeless Shelter in Woodward for the past six years. While living in Ottawa, she worked for Litwin’s Department Store for 10 years and King Radio in the mid-1980s to early 1990s.

She was a lifelong member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary No. 5901, Aerie Lodge No. 2700 Ladies Auxiliary. She participated in various charitable events in Woodward.

Survivors include her husband, Danny, of the home; son, Andy Rhoades and his wife, Michelle, Lawrence, Kan.; five grandchildren, Abby, Russell, Chandler, Joel and Andy; brother, Joe Scott and his wife, Patsy, Woodward, Okla.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and three sisters, Norma Patton, Margie Adams and Marilyn Smith.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Carolyn Sue Everson Memorial Fund through Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory St., Ottawa KS 66067.
