Charles Franklin “Chuck” Peed, 92, Williamsburg, Kan., passed away Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services are planned for 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. Friends may pay their respects to Mr. Peed after 9 a.m. Friday to the service hour at the mortuary, where the family plans to meet with friends 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday. Interment is set for St. John’s Cemetery, Homewood, Kan.

Charles was born Saturday, Aug. 13, 1921, in Williamsburg, the son of Neil and Marie (Kenney) Peed.

He graduated from Williamsburg High School with the class of 1940.

He lived on the family farm his entire life.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Ottawa, Kan.   

Charles was united in marriage with Maxine Thompson April 21, 1947, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Ottawa. She preceded him in death Feb. 13, 2012, after nearly 65 years of marriage.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed farming, horses and miniature donkeys, John Deere tractors, telling jokes and visiting with people.   

Survivors include his daughter, Joyce Coll, Villa Rica, Ga.; son, Francis Peed and his wife, Midge, Williamsburg; four grandchildren, Chad Peed and his wife, Randi, Baldwin City, Kan., Christina Ross and her husband, Kenny, Villa Rica, Ga., Jennifer Hill and her husband, Ryan, Berryton, Kan., and Jason Peed, Prague, Czech Republic; and six great-grandchildren, Kyle and Katlyn Ross, Tyler and Austin Hill, Lila Ross and Adrian Peed.

He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or St. John’s Cemetery through Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory St., Ottawa KS 66067.
