Replace with Geist

3/6/2013

As a Franklin County resident, I have to express concern about the possibility of our replacement sheriff being a local appointee with state approval.

My first concern is the conspiracy that surrounds this case. The charges against Sheriff Jeff Curry were not detailed, which tells me they are trying to do what they can to oust him. I actually felt safe with him as sheriff. We all know that Franklin County politics are colorful and surrounded by corruption and self-serving people who do not represent us, but instead want to cater to Johnson County, and want to turn our county into Johnson County.

I would hope the man chosen to replace the sheriff would be a person the people of this county want. Rick Geist, for example, came in second in the August 2012 Republican primary, so I believe he should be the chosen one. I would feel comfortable with him as sheriff.

My fear is that our “colorful and corrupt” politicians would attempt to appoint Rick Croucher, whom nobody wants here as sheriff.
