For love of God, country

3/13/2013

I am writing this letter to express my deep concern for the future of our country. As we all know, our country is facing all kinds of problems; but most important is that we are spiritually bankrupt.

In II Chronicles 29:6, Hezekiah speaks to the Jewish people and says, “For our fathers have trespassed, and done that which was evil in the eyes of the Lord our God, and have forsaken Him, and have turned their faces from the habitation of the Lord, and turned their backs.”

We have turned our backs on God; and to put it bluntly, we have forsaken Him because we think we know better than God. We are in a financial crisis that nobody seems to know how to fix, and since we don’t know how to fix it, maybe we should think about asking God; but, of course, since we think we know better than He does, and so many people today do not believe that there is a God, our country keeps going down the same path.

We are having all kinds of debates on assault weapons and on guns of any kind, and all the murders that are taking place in this country. But you don’t hear an outcry, except in the pro-life movement, about the 50 million-plus babies who have been killed by legalized murder. And by doing this, we have unleashed a murdering spirit across this country. Oh, I’m sure that I should have used the word, “fetus,” so that I could be “politically correct,” but God says that it’s a “baby” at conception, and that baby is created in the image of God.

The Bible states in Judges 13:3, “And the angel of the Lord appeared unto the woman, and said unto her, ‘Behold now, thou art barren, and bearest not: but thou shalt conceive, and bear a son.’”

Isaiah 7:14b states, “Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call His name Immanuel.”

According to the Bible, life begins at conception.

There are people in Washington, D.C., who are so bent on having everything “green” so we can save the world from global warming. I believe we need to do our part in keeping the atmosphere uncontaminated. But, if you will read the Bible, you will find that God is not going to leave the destruction of this planet to human beings, since we are strictly amateurs. The Bible says God will take care of that Himself.

There are currently 10 states that have approved same-sex marriage, which again, is against the word of God. Romans 16:26-28 states, “For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient.”

So how are we supposed to treat those of the gay community? The Bible says we are to love our neighbor as ourselves, not to condone what they do, but to love them as fellow human beings.

We, as American people, elect “politicians” when we should be electing “leaders.” The politician is concerned about getting re-elected, whereas the leader is concerned about what is best for his city, county, state or nation. The true leader, if he doesn’t know the answer, will ask God for the answer. The Constitution of the United States was written by God-fearing men who believed that this nation was under the Providence of God, and I believe that our nation needs to return to the Providence of God.

I find it absurd that an atheist can walk past a cross, which he does not believe in and the redemption that took place on that cross, and become offended by something that he does not even believe in, and will go into court to have that wonderful cross removed.

We idolize football stars, baseball stars, movie stars, basketball stars, etc., but we have forgotten about “the Morning Star,” whose name is Jesus Christ.

I am quite sure that this letter will ruffle some feathers, and I am sure that there will be lots of contradictory statements; but let me use some quotations from the Bible:

• Proverbs 6:16-19: “These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto Him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.”

• The First Commandment, found in Exodus 20:3: “Thou shalt have no other gods before Me.” I ask you to carefully consider this, that if our nation was founded on Godly principles, don’t you believe that this nation should turn back to Godly principles?

• II Chronicles 7:14: “If My people, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

In 1965, my family and I came to Ottawa under the unction of God to build Him a place of worship and to name it Community Revival Center Church. Since that time, we have seen our nation slowly depart from the truth of God’s word to the place where it is today. Our nation has compromised the word of God, and compromised His standards that are set forth in the Scriptures.

Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior, and is full of mercy and grace for all of those who would call upon His name.

I am asking every church in Franklin County to designate March 30 as a National Day of Repentance. I have contacted ministers all across this country who have committed to join with us in this Day of Repentance.

I love our nation, and I love God.
