Change needed

3/15/2013

It is just about time in this town that we started a movement here in Ottawa to get rid of the city manager and everyone else who works for the city and county.

As a tax-paying citizen who has her 2012 taxes paid, every time I call down there for any kind of help, I get the same tired, old excuses. I called to get someone to come out and clear my alley of ice and snow so I could keep a doctor’s appointment, and their same excuse was that they had to get the streets first.

They are getting $40,000 to take care of the alleys and instead they apparently stick the money in their pockets and ignore the alleys. I have a city book that says they get that money and yet they do absolutely nothing for the taxpayer who pays their salaries.

If an ambulance had to get up that section of alley, it would be almost impossible. I have no front driveway, only that alley. I am a diabetic with other health problems. This town has no emergency health help whatsoever. You can look to lay in your house and die before anyone cares, and most of the time you can’t get your streets cleaned or anything else.

These are some pretty good reasons for a change of government.

It would not bankrupt the city if they put a layer of gravel and ice salt on that alley to break down the ice and snow. After all, we pay enough taxes for that.
