Secular morality and same-sex marriage

3/28/2013

When I watch and read about the same sex marriage cases before the U.S. Supreme Court, I sometimes do not know whether to laugh or cry.

I feel like laughing at how foolish men and women — in the name of their supposedly superior intellectualism — are so blind to truth and are accurately described in Romans 1:22: “Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools.” I want to cry when I think of the almost-total godless world my grandchildren are going to be subject to and forced by the power of government to obey against their faith or be crushed by this powerful new religion of America called Secular Humanism.

Here is the dictionary definition of the religion of Secular Humanism: (Philosophy) the denial of any power or moral value superior to that of humanity; the rejection of religion in favor of a belief in the advancement of humanity by its own efforts.

Paul, in the Bible, describes secular humanism in Romans 1:25: “They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things [man himself] rather than the Creator”. The whole Romans chapter 1 is very clearly the result of Secular Humanism.

Let’s compare the definition of Secular Humanism to the dictionary definition of religion, which is a belief in and reverence for a supernatural power or powers regarded as creator and governor of the universe.

Here is the lie that the majority of Americans have bought: That somehow there can be some kind of neutral power that allows all to have equal rights and be free of someone else’s morality.

Of course, it’s the Secular Humanists who have perpetuated this lie, claiming religion is the source or morality Americans should be protected from and it’s those religious folks who have no right to force their morality on others. Study the definition of Secular Humanism above and tell me that Secular Humanism is not also a philosophy that seeks to define morality. They get away with claiming it’s not an official religion, but it’s very much a religion. Man is their god. Man is their source of morality. Why should they have superior rights to define morality over people of religion?

The Declaration of Independence, one of our founding documents, declares that man’s rights come from our Creator. With 53 of 56 signors as devout Christians, there is no doubt the Creator they were speaking of was the Judeo-Christian God. The U.S. Supreme Court, without any precedent, ruled in 1963 against the Christian God in favor of a new god called man and gave power to the Secular Humanists. They have used that power to redefine American morality.

In spite of all the cover and cute talk of what is lawful concerning same-sex marriage, the bottom line is it’s really not about the law — it’s really about which God America will follow: the morality of the Secular Humanist or the morality of Christians.

It’s totally naïve for anyone to think it is simply a battle over the law about same-sex marriage. The Secular Humanist religion already has, on many occasions, demonstrated it will not be nearly as respectful to the rights of Christians as Christians have been to its worshippers. Look at the freedoms lost by Christians in Massachusetts since 2004 when they legalized same-sex marriage. Public schools now openly entice children to try homosexual behavior, and penalties are enforced on dissenters. Catholic Charities, which was the largest provider of foster homes for orphans, was forced to close or obey this new religion that was against their convictions. Surely anyone can see the attitude of the religion of the Secular Humanist big city mayors in the recent Chick-fil-a dust up. Theses secular humanists clearly wanted to use the power of government to punish the Chick-fil-A owners just for expressing their belief of marriage between man and woman. As their power grows, the Secular Humanists will use the power of government to do their will.

We can write pages of these kinds of things and of attitudes against Christians done by the religion of the Secular Humanists. When man is his own god, he has no limits on what he will do to another man. Christians have a Bible that puts limits on man that keeps man from doing anything he pleases to another man.  It’s the religion of the Secular Humanists that resulted in the evils of communism and cruel dictators around the world. We are far safer and will have more freedom with the Christian God guiding our nation than the Secular Humanist god.

Even if you do not believe in God, you would be wise to have our government operate more by the philosophy of the New Testament than the philosophy of the Secular Humanists, which is any man’s opinion with no limits to any harmful behavior he chooses to inflict on others. If you are a professing Christian who has bought into the lie, there really can be a neutral morality in government you need to think through this again. We will be ruled and forced to obey someone’s idea of morality. The more the Secular Humanist rule, the more Christian morality will disappear.

If you think you are a Christian and that God favors same-sex marriage, you must accept that you defy many scriptures in the Bible and 2000 years of Christian teaching about marriage. You are saying all Christian history has been wrong. Why are you so suddenly right and all those before you were wrong?
