LIBRARY LINE: ‘Dig’ into summer reading

By LEANNA HETH, Library Line | 5/21/2013

We have two weeks until the kick-off for summer reading at the Ottawa Library.

Join us June 3 to “Dig Into Reading.” We will have a big party in our parking lot from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. You can sign up for the reading program. There will be games to play, snow-cones, limbo and, this year, worm races.

Our programs for June include pretty much anything that digs or that you can dig. Entomology will be every Wednesday in June. Activities also will include Family Gardening on Tuesdays and Thursdays. There will be two movie days, and a make-and-take craft. This is just the “tip” of the pile of things to be offered this summer.

In addition to summer reading, our regular programs will continue. Storytime is 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Books and Babies is at  11 a.m. Tuesdays. Toddler Time is 9:45 a.m. Thursdays, and we end the week with another storytime at 10 a.m. Friday.

Sign up, read, earn prizes, come to programs and “Dig into Summer.” Some programs you must register for, so check our schedule for details.

Leanna Heth is a librarian in the children’s department at the Ottawa Library.
