• A half-million-dollar endowment and funds for new buildings for Ottawa University are the aim of the trustees of Ottawa’s Baptist college and the plans for this big endowment campaign were discussed thoroughly at the meeting of the trustees yesterday afternoon at the annual meeting of commencement week. The improvements to be made are for the gymnasium, science hall, library and central heating plant.

• Rantoul, the recently incorporated city in Franklin County, is marching right to the front and the construction of 10 blocks of concrete sidewalks through the principal part of the business and residence section of Rantoul has begun. Rantoul was incorporated last August. Since then, it has adopted many of the ideas used in thriving cities throughout Kansas.

• Officers Elvie Allison and W.L. Langdon pursued a man believed to have been William Clark last night on the north side of the river. The police have suspected Clark of bootlegging. An alleged cache for liquor was found in an alley near the old city barn on North Main Street yesterday; in bushes in the alley was found a sack in a box. It contained four quart bottles of beer. The police watched the cache and a man appeared there last night. The officers made a run for him, but he escaped. Officer Allison fired one shot over his head. A woman, said to be Clark’s wife, stood on the street corner and screamed at the officers not to shoot the fleeing man who escaped in the darkness.
