Pomona Library

7/25/2014

Timing and teaming go well together. Especially when you consider the new Pomona Community Library. With various fundraisers, grants, gifts and considerable volunteer efforts, Pomona can now boast of a new beautiful library in the heart of the downtown.

William and Teresa Bayne, formerly of Pomona, donated their building for this very purpose. With a request for only the cost of transferring the ownership to the Pomona Friends of the Library, they gave this city a significant gift that will be enjoyed and used for many years to come.

I’m also pleased that the Goppert Foundation also saw this benefit to Pomona and made a matching gift for remodeling efforts to make this project a reality.

I had the opportunity to tour the facility ahead of the open house today. This library can be used as a resource center with a computer lab, meeting room, children’s room, movies to check out and, yes, even books. It truly is a “one-size-fits-all” place for all ages to enjoy.

If you missed the open house, stop by for a brief tour and you’ll be pleasantly surprised. Congratulations to all those involved.

Good timing, and even better team effort. Now Pomona has a new gathering place, and it is called the Pomona Community Library.
