Know your Republican

7/30/2014

You can tell it’s an election year! The amount of mail being delivered across Kansas alone is helping to close the U.S. Postal Service’s deficit. But who is behind these political ads?

A group called the “Kansas Values Institute” has been sending mailers in support of Blaine Finch, saying Bob Fluke is “another yes man for Topeka lobbyists.”

Who is the Kansas Values Institute? It sure sounds nice, traditional, conservative, but when you look into their leadership, it’s anything but. Their treasurer is a man by the name of Dan Watkins. Who is Dan Watkins? He’s no Republican.

According to a recent Kansas Watchdog article, he was the senior Kansas adviser for the Barack Obama presidential campaign. Watkins is a long-time Democratic insider, giving a total of $38,674 in political contributions over time, and more than $11,000 to Kathleen Sebelius.

Watkins is defending Finch as the right Republican for the job. Who do you want to represent you in the Kansas House? An Obama Republican, or a true conservative? I think the answer is clear, and I ask for your support of Bob Fluke.
