Who’s to blame?

8/6/2014

As the saying goes, “We have seen the enemy, and the enemy is us.” I have decided after watching the past six years of politics, that quote is exactly what is wrong with the United States.

I read letters to the editor that blame President Obama, Congress, Republicans, the Tea Party, liberals, the ozone, and maybe the boogeyman for our country and its problems. I see polls on how people feel about the president or Congress. Those letters and opinions have convinced me that it isn’t Obama or Congress for the lack of action. Each letter and poll shows how polarized we have become, many to the point that some people end friendships because they don’t agree on politics.

Really? Our entire system of government is based on compromise and both sides refuse to do so. If we as citizens do not want compromise, how can Congress and the president do anything?

Sorry, people. If you want someone to blame, you might want to look into the mirror.
