Avoiding abuse

10/9/2013

The Ottawa Herald occasionally publishes articles and opinion pieces concerning domestic violence. The main thrust of these items is usually to tell the victims how to get out of the mess they are in, rather than how to avoid the situation to begin with.

Why not publish some articles giving the signs to watch for that could indicate that the person they are attracted to could be, or might become, abusive? Linda Brown, Jeanny Sharp and Rebecca McFarland should be well-qualified to write such articles.

An ounce of prevention might be worth much more than a pound of cure in this case.
