Wellsville police coverage

10/11/2013

I am writing in reference to “Who’s Paying What for 911?” in Wednesday’s Herald.

In the article, Ottawa City Commissioner Blake Jorgensen said Wellsville has it’s own police department — this is true, almost. Wellsville’s police department used to provide its residents with 24/7 protection — this is no longer the case, and hasn’t been since the present police chief came on board. I live in Wellsville and know the police department does not provide 24/7 coverage. It only provides part-time coverage each day and the sheriff’s office picks up what they don’t cover. I just felt this needed to be corrected.
