OHS wrestlers place 4 at Holton

HOLTON — The Ottawa High School wrestling team placed four out of eight wrestlers Saturday in the Holton Invitational. Ottawa finished 11th.

Dalton Weidl, the top-ranked wrestler in 4A at 195 pounds, met the No. 1 ranked wrestler in 6A in the finals. Weidl lost 4-3.

HOLTON — The Ottawa High School wrestling team placed four out of eight wrestlers Saturday in the Holton Invitational. Ottawa finished 11th.

Dalton Weidl, the top-ranked wrestler in 4A at 195 pounds, met the No. 1 ranked wrestler in 6A in the finals. Weidl lost 4-3.

Sam Carver (145) finished third. Caleb Parenti (170) took fourth. Garrett Gross (182) was sixth.

“Caleb saw very tough competition all day,” Ottawa coach Joe Tokarz said. “Sam had a great day, really wrestling well.

“Garrett is really coming on, gaining confidence with each match.

“Our younger wrestlers and getting a lot of experience against some of the best wrestlers in the state.We are proud of them going out and getting better each match also.”

Ottawa wrestles today at Osawatomie.

160 – Brayden Streeter, 0-2.

170 – Caleb Parenti, 2-2, fourth.

195 – Dalton Weidl, 2-1, second.
