Lady Braves roll past Friends

For the first time since the 2006-07 season the Ottawa University women’s basketball team is 7-3 in Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference with a 72-54 victory over No. 21 Friends Saturday in Wilson Field House.

Ottawa (11-9) never trailed and jumped out to a 15-0 lead to start the contest. Ottawa’s Shauna McClure started off by hitting three straight treys. She finished with 17 points.

Ottawa (11-9) never trailed and jumped out to a 15-0 lead to start the contest. Ottawa’s Shauna McClure started off by hitting three straight treys. She finished with 17 points.

Friends came within 10, but Ottawa answered with a 12-0 run extend the lead to 37-25 late in the first half. Ottawa led 39-19 at halftime.

Ashley Romig tossed in 14 points and had seven rebounds. Amber Ramsey had 13 points. Angelic Frazier finished with six blocks, nine rebounds and eight points.

Mikayla Skidmore had a career-high 11 assists.

Friends 88, Ottawa 68

Friends led wire-to-wire in downing the Braves, 88-68.

It was Ottawa’s third straight loss. Friends led 43-29 at halftime.

The NAIA’s top scorer Joe Mitchell fired in 36 points for the Falcons.

Julian Rose led Ottawa (9-11, 4-6) with 19 points. Kameron Lindsay had 15.
