Falcon girls break press with ease

POMONA — The West Franklin girls pounded the ball inside and shredded the Madison press Tuesday in Pomona. The Falcons rolled to a 43-28 victory.

“It was a complete team effort,” West Franklin coach Kyle Conley said. “Our press break was fantastic. We pounded the ball inside.”

Macy Flory led the Falcons (7-9)with 16 points. Bailey Whittington had 13.

Madison (28) — Harrison 7, Rayburn 4, Kacy 14, Rousch 1, Bond 2.

West Franklin (43) — Reed 4, Steele 4, Shaffer 2, Whittington 13, Flory 16, Yelland 4.

Wellsville 41, Anderson Co. 32

WELLSVILLE — Defense and hitting shots in the second half propelled Wellsville to a 41-32 win Tuesday over Anderson County in Wellsville.

“We played really well defensively during the entire game,” Wellsville coach Brock Campbell said.

Moriah Kayhill paced the Eagles (6-9) with 15 points.

Anderson County (32) — Scheckel 11, Lutz 6, Jirak 5, McCullough 5, Rockers 5.

Wellsville (41) — Kayhill 15, Newhouse 8, Sparks 6, Graniewski 6, Patton 4, Geist 2.

Prairie View 47, Central Heights 44

Central Heights is having trouble winning close games. Another one got away Tuesday at Central Heights. Prairie View edged the Vikings, 47-44.

“We keep having close ones game after game, but we just can’t seem to get over that hump,” Central Heights coach Scott Lane said. “We just didn’t play well at all in the first half. I am proud of the way the girls responded to some halftime motivation and came out and executed in the third quarter.”

Whitney Kraus and Sydney Meyer paced the Vikings with 18 point each.

Prairie View (47) — Brown 4, Halaquist 17, Diehm 6, Boone 14, Waterman 2, Davis 2, Konitzer 2.

Central Heights (44) — Kraus 18, Schaefer 2, Markley 4, Meyer 18, Hayward 2.

Jayhawk-Linn 39, Central Heights 38

Jayhawk-Linn nipped Central Heights, 39-38, Monday in a rescheduled game at Central Heights.

Brianna Erhart led the Vikings with 13 points. Meyer tossed in 10.
