OU baseball opens with a victory

The Ottawa University baseball team opened the season this weekend and went 1-3 in two doubleheaders. Ottawa was 1-2 against Concordia, winning 4-0 and losing 13-3 and 10-1.

Ottawa lost 3-2 Sunday in eight innings to William Penn. Ottawa scored two runs in the seventh inning to force extra innings.

The Braves (1-3) play 1 p.m. Saturday at home in a doubleheader against Northwestern.

Softball splits DHs: The Ottawa softball team split Friday and Saturday vs. nationally-ranked Grand View and Benedictine. Ottawa lost 14-5 to Grand View and won the nightcap 5-4 on a game winning double by Darin Lewis in the seventh inning.

On Saturday, Ottawa lost 7-3 against Benedictine and won the nightcap, 11-4.

Today’s doubleheader in Kansas City, Mo., against Avila has been postponed.

OU tennis: The Ottawa men’s and women’s tennis team fell 9-0 Saturday to NCAA Division II foe Nebraska-Kearney in Grand Island, Neb.

Ottawa takes on another NCAA Division II foe Friday against McKendree University at the Kings Point Sports Club.
