Lundry nets 32 in Braves' loss

LINDSBORG — Ottawa University junior post Alex Lundry kept the Braves either in the lead or close to Bethany College Thursday in the first round of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament.

He finished with 32 points and 10 rebounds in Ottawa’s 92-86 loss to the Swedes in Lindsborg. It was a game with several ties and lead changes.

He finished with 32 points and 10 rebounds in Ottawa’s 92-86 loss to the Swedes in Lindsborg. It was a game with several ties and lead changes.

Bethany, which averages 90 points a game, used its high-powered offense to turn back Ottawa. The Swedes hit 15 of 31 from behind the arc.

Bethany pushed the lead to 88-82 with a quick spurt with just under two minutes remaining. Ottawa (14-15) cut the deficit to 88-86 with 47 seconds left.

The game was tied at 47-47 at halftime. Ottawa’s biggest lead of the game was six at 64-58.

Bethany came back to tie at 74 and for the 10th time at 77-77.

The Braves shot 45 percent from the floor.

Junior guard Adam Hasty finished with 22 points and eight assists. Senior guard Julian Rose, a first-team all-conference selection, had 12 points and five rebounds.

The loss snapped Ottawa’s three-game winning streak.
