Falcons spank Northern Heights

POMONA — The West Franklin High School baseball team needed a good performance to get that bad taste out from last week’s losses to Osage City.

The Falcons came out ready and played good fundamental baseball Thursday in sweeping Northern Heights in Pomona. West Franklin won 10-0 in five innings and 11-3.

The Falcons came out ready and played good fundamental baseball Thursday in sweeping Northern Heights in Pomona. West Franklin won 10-0 in five innings and 11-3.

The Falcons combined good pitching, defense and a lot of hitting into the easy wins.

West Franklin combined for 18 hits and just one error in the doubleheader.

Emerson Reece (2-0) tossed a two-hitter with three strikeouts in the opener. Four pitchers combined on a seven-hitter in the nightcap and had seven strikeouts.

West Franklin coach Danny Homer said it was a complete turnaround from last week.

Reece and Trent Worley had two RBIs each in the first game. Oaklee Homer, Tate Jackson, Reece had two hits each in the nightcap. Dakota Ferguson had three RBIs.

“Our bats woke up a little bit,” Homer said.

West Franklin plays Tuesday at home against Chase County.
