OU softball climbs to top of KCAC

The Ottawa University softball team moved to the top of the KCAC Saturday with a sweep of Tabor in Ottawa.

The Lady Braves won 2-1 and 6-3.

The Lady Braves won 2-1 and 6-3.

Gabby Markham won her 10th game in the opener. She had six strikeouts.

Alyssa Miller, Lydia Budke, Elisa Valenzuela and Savannah Taylor had two hits each in the nightcap. Miller had two RBIs.

Baseball

The Braves baseball team jumped back into contention for the sixth and final seed in the KCAC postseason tournament with three wins over Kansas Wesleyan.

Ottawa swept the Coyotes on Friday, 5-2 and 9-6 in Ottawa. The Braves split Saturday in Salina. Ottawa lost 7-4 and won 24-12.

Alejandro Villegas and Aaron Marshall had two hits each in the opener. Villegas and Kaylem Quinn had two RBIs each. Jacob Loucks had eight strikeouts.

Zach Ostergard had three hits in the nightcap. Ostergard, Marshall and Nick Deichler had two RBIs a piece.

Villegas had three RBIs and a home run in Saturday’s opener.

The nightcap was an offensive explosion. Marshall and Villegas had four hits each. Deichler had a school record nine RBIs.

Tennis

The men’s tennis squad won its third straight KCAC match Saturday with a 9-0 win over Kansas Wesleyan at Forest Park. The women claimed a 6-3 victory.
