LAWRENCE — Ottawa’s Kord Ferguson and Louisburg’s Connor McMullen will see a lot of each other the rest of the season.

The two discus throwers outshined the field Friday in the Kansas Relays in the boys high school division. Ferguson won the event with toss of more than 189 feet. McMullen was second as he eclipsed the 180-foot mark.

“It was a different kind of meet with all the finalists over 165 feet,” Ottawa coach Mark Laws said.

McMullen was the closest competition Ferguson has seen all season. Ferguson has the top throw in the nation at 205-6.5.
