Ferguson shines in Kansas Relays

LAWRENCE — Ottawa High School junior Kord Ferguson competed against some of the best prep throwers in the midwest this weekend in the University of Kansas Relays.

Ferguson won the boys discus with a toss of 182 feet, 1 inch. The throw came on his final attempt and jumped him from third to first.

On Friday, the Cyclone finished second in the shot put with a toss of 60-5. Senior Mickey Jensen was 13th at 52-3.75. Junior Cory Peoples took 15th at 51-3.5.

Senior Dallas Natt finished ninth in the triple jump at 44-10.75.

Junior Aaron Miller competed Friday in the 400-meter preliminaries and ran a time of 53.2 seconds and did not qualify for the finals.

The Ottawa track team competes today at Bonner Springs.

The meet was originally scheduled for Thursday, but was moved because of bad weather.
