OHS tennis splits matches

The Ottawa High School boys tennis team went 6-6 Tuesday at the De Soto Invitational played at Mill Valley.

“We are improving every meet,” Ottawa coach Eric Sparks said. “We need to win those close matches.”

Ottawa plays Tuesday at Baldwin in the Frontier League tourney.

No. 1 doubles

Sylvester/Reed (1-2): lost to Atchison, 8-7 (10-8: lost to St. James 8-3; def. De Soto 8-7 (7-3).

No. 2 doubles

Boliver/Rea (1-2): lost to Atchison, 8-6; def. St. James; lost to De Soto, 8-5.

No. 2 singles

Espinosa (2-1): def. Atchison, 8-3; def. St. James, 8-3; lost to De Soto, 8-3.

No. 1 singles

Kuczmarski (2-1): def. Atchison, 8-3; def. St. James, 8-5; lost to De Soto, 8-0.
