Vikings softball pound out hits

Central Heights High school softball team’s bats finally got it going Monday in a sweep of West Franklin at Central Heights.

The Vikings pounded 15 hits in the 8-3 and 18-4 victories.

The key hits eluded the Falcons.

“We are doing better about eliminating errors in the field,” West Franklin coach Michelle Haupt said. “However, we can’t seem to get our offense going.

“We can get things started, but finishing them is now our challenge as a team.”

Central Heights had five players with one hit each and four with an RBI.

The Vikings unloaded on the Falcons in the nightcap.

Kenzie Hayward paced the Vikings, going 4-for-4 with four RBIs. Whitney Kranus had three hits and four RBIs. Megan Davis had two RBIs. Kirby Laird had two hits and scored three runs.

West Franklin was paced by Jessica Noyons, who was 3-for-3 with an RBI in the second game.

Hayward limited the Falcons to three hits in the opener. She had six strikeouts.

Davis had six strikeouts in five innings of the nightcap.

West Franklin was coming off 12-2 and 7-4 losses Friday to Herington. The Falcons had 14 hits and 16 stolen bases in the two games.

December Cummings: 2 singles.

Adreyanna Sharp: 2 SB.

Tori Coopman: double.
