Eagles baseball sweeps league titles

La CYGNE — The Wellsville High School baseball team swept through the Pioneer League.

The Eagles won the regular season title and topped Prairie View, 12-1, Tuesday to win the league tournament.

The Eagles won the regular season title and topped Prairie View, 12-1, Tuesday to win the league tournament.

Fourth-ranked Wellsville (18-2) garnered the second seed in the Jayhawk-Linn regional and plays 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in Mound City against the winner of No. 3 West Franklin (13-5) and No. 6 KC Christian (1-15).

Shamus Kearney (8-0) tossed a one-hitter and had nine strikeouts.

West Franklin

POMONA — Errors have been costly to the West Franklin baseball team. The Falcons split their season-ending doubleheader Tuesday at home.

The Falcons won 12-9 and lost 5-1 to Burlington, despite giving up one earned run.

Tate Jackson was the winning pitcher and Will Duda took the loss.

Tate Jackson: 3 RBIs.

Will Duda: 3 RBIs.

Emerson Reece: 2 RBIs.
