CH freshman Percy finishes strong

Central Heights High School freshman Matt Percy ended his first golf season with a bang Monday, while two other area golfers concluded their high school careers at state golf tournaments.

Percy tied for 12th in the 3A state tourney with an 81 at Spring Creek Golf Course in Seneca.

Percy tied for 12th in the 3A state tourney with an 81 at Spring Creek Golf Course in Seneca.

Anderson County senior Jack Rickabaugh and junior Spencer Walter both shot a 79 in the 4A state tourney at Cherry Oaks Golf Course in Cheney.

Rickabaugh, a four-time state tourney qualifier, finished 29th and Walter, who was in his third state tournament, was 30th.

Ottawa senior Austin Blaue, playing in his third state tournament, finished with an 82 to take 46th. Blaue will play golf for the Ottawa University men’s team.

Percy put together a sterling freshman season finishing in the top-10 in most of his tournaments. He was a regional champion.

Percy won three tournaments, finished runner-up three times, took fourth and a sixth.
