West Franklin Legion sweeps Iola

POMONA — West Franklin American Legion’s Derrick Peugot gave the Iola A squad fits Friday in Pomona.

Peugot pitched a gem in the 4-1 victory and led the offense with two extra base hits. He helped spearhead West Franklin to a 10-0 victory in the sweep.

Peugot pitched a gem in the 4-1 victory and led the offense with two extra base hits. He helped spearhead West Franklin to a 10-0 victory in the sweep.

Peugot went five innings with three strikeouts in the 4-1 win. He ripped a double and a triple. Peugot, Brett Whittington and Silas Horne had RBIs.

Emerson Reece tossed the final two innings for the save.

West Franklin dominated the other game which went four innings. The Falcons scored five runs in the fourth to end the game.

Klayton Lacey tossed a one-hitter with five strikeouts. West Franklin ripped four doubles in its eight hits. Puegot had two RBIs.

West Franklin’s AA squad plays 6 p.m. today at Iola.
