Wellsville stays alive, plays for title today

The Wellsville American Legion baseball team is one step away from its first state tournament appearance.

Wellsville forced a second championship game with its two wins Friday in the Zone 2 Tournament at Ottawa.

Wellsville forced a second championship game with its two wins Friday in the Zone 2 Tournament at Ottawa.

Wellsville rallied from a 4-0 hole with six runs, all with two outs, in the top of the seventh to eliminate Ottawa, 6-4. Shamus Kearney tossed a three-hitter in leading Wellsville to a 7-0 win over Rock Creek.

Wellsville and Rock Creek play for a state berth noon today on the Drake diamond.
