Practice getting started at OHS

Ottawa High School student-athletes are gearing up for another sports season.

OHS fall practices are expected to begin Monday, Brad C. Graf, OHS assistant principal and activities/athletic director, said. All practices are planned at the high school, 1120 S. Ash St., with the exception of girls tennis, which is set to practice at the Forest Park courts.

OHS fall practices are expected to begin Monday, Brad C. Graf, OHS assistant principal and activities/athletic director, said. All practices are planned at the high school, 1120 S. Ash St., with the exception of girls tennis, which is set to practice at the Forest Park courts.

Teams’ practice schedules are as follows (weather permitting):

• Football is expected to conduct two-a-day practices the first week. Equipment checkout is planned for these practices, which are set for 6 a.m. and 3:45 p.m., beginning Monday. For more information, email Rob Hedrick, head coach, at hedrickr@usd290.org

• Volleyball tryouts are set for 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. Tryouts are mandatory. For more information, email Laura Jeannin, head coach, at jeanninL@usd290.org

• Boys soccer is planning a first practice for 4 p.m. Monday. For more information, email Daniel Nathan, head coach, at dan_sule22@hotmail.com

• Boys and girls cross-country are set for two-a-day practices the first week. The first practice is scheduled for 6:30 a.m. Monday, with daily two-a-day practices at 6:30 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. For more information, email Chris Kornhaus, head coach, at kornhauC@usd290.org

• Girls tennis practice also is expected to begin Monday at Forest Park. Practice times are to be determined by the head coach.      

All students interested in participating in OHS sports must have a completed Kansas State High School Activities Association physical form and a completed KSHSAA concussion awareness form on file with the Ottawa High School activities department before the first practice.
