WELLSVILLE — West Franklin High School had two runners medal Friday in the Wellsville Invitational. The cross-country meet was moved to Friday after Thursday’s storms.

Isaiah Messick was 12th in the boys race and Alexis Yelland took 17th in the girls race.

“Isaiah ran a spectacular race,” Falcon coach Tara Huggard said. “At the end of the first mile, he was sitting in around 20th place and just continued to pick off the other runners one-by-one. It was very exciting to watch and his improvement from last year is just amazing. I can’t wait to see how the rest of this year plays out for him.

“Alexis ran extremely strong the entire time. Her times have been significantly faster than last year and I can’t wait to see how that helps her when we get closer to the league and regional meets.

“Overall the girls all ran well and as a pack. We were missing a couple runners because they had to reschedule the race and they had prior commitments with other school activities. I am excited to watch them next week at our home course. It is always a fun place to watch them run.”

The West Franklin Invitational will be 4 p.m. Thursday at Pomona Lake.
