The Ottawa High School volleyball team gave state-ranked Baldwin a battle Tuesday in all three sets, but could not come out ahead in Ottawa.

The Cyclones lost 25-23, 25-21, 25-21.

“Baldwin is a solid team and we competed in all three sets,” Ottawa coach Laura Jeannin said. “They have many dominate hitters, but our defense did a great job of keeping the ball alive. This gave our hitters the opportunity to finish plays. We had many opportunities to take control in this match having leads in all three sets.”

The junior varsity fell 25-19, 25-19.

Ottawa (11-8) plays 4:30 p.m. today at home against Emporia and Mill Valley.

Ottawa plays Saturday in the Tonganoxie tourney.
