Eagles volleyball captures league

WELLSVILLE — The Wellsville High School volleyball team put a bow on its Pioneer League championship Tuesday with two wins over Prairie View in Wellsville.

The Eagles won 25-6, 25-20 and 25-14, 25-13. Wellsville went 10-0 in the league.

“It was a great night for volleyball, but even more so for our three seniors who have been fantastic this year — Justine Dougan, Ashley Ebeck and Chrissy Swafford,” Wellsville coach Eric Evans.

“It also was our ‘Pink-Out’ night with recognition being given to those that deserve it.”

Wellsville takes a 29-8 record into Saturday’s sub-state in Rossville.

Ashley Sparks: 20 kills, 2.7 serve-receive.

Grace Graniewski: 12 kills, 9 aces.

Karly Patton: 10 kills.

Emily Newhouse: 34 assists.
