Braves win third straight

The Ottawa University men’s soccer team picked up its third straight victory Wednesday with a 7-1 win over Southwestern College at Peoples Bank Field.

Less than two minutes later, Ottawa went up 2-0 on Kyler Grimes goal, the first of his three scores. Zack Hanks had the assist.

In the 14th minute of play, Ottawa took a 3-0 lead on Keith’s goal. Rafael Ramirez assisted on the score.

The Braves took a 4-0 lead into the half on Hanks’ goal. Tyler Smith was credited with the assist.

Grimes opened the scoring in the second half for Ottawa. Andres Perez found Grimes open for the goal in the 71st minute of play to give Ottawa a 5-0 lead. Perez’s goal came at the 71:38 mark off of a Keith pass to give Ottawa a 6-0 lead.

Southwestern scored in the 75th minute. Grimes scored his third goal at the 82:35 mark. Casey Waniska’s pass found a wide open Grimes.

Ottawa keeper Drinnan Sante had three saves. Ottawa had a 29-4 lead in shots and a 16-4 advantage in shots on goal.

The Braves (5-8-2, 3-1-2) play 8:30 p.m. Saturday at home against Kansas Wesleyan.
