Ottawa volleyball sweeps Sterling

STERLING — The Ottawa University volleyball team swept the season series from Sterling College.

The Lady Braves knocked off Sterling (29-27, 25-23, 25-17) Thursday in Sterling.

The Lady Braves knocked off Sterling (29-27, 25-23, 25-17) Thursday in Sterling.

It was the second straight victory since Ottawa lost to Tabor in five sets. Ottawa came up big late in the first two sets with both being close.

Ottawa hit .289 and finished with 35 digs.

The Lady Braves were led by Nicole Gingery with 11 kills. She finished with a .357 hitting percentage. Three other Lady Braves — Taylor Bridge, Becca Colson and Avery Enzbrenner — finished with six kills each.

Allie Arnold led Ottawa with a .455 hitting percentage. She had five kills in 11 attempts with no errors.

Christa Hill led Ottawa with 20 assists and Lindsey Widen had 11. Bridge topped Ottawa with nine digs.

The Lady Braves (14-13, 11-4) play 1 p.m. today at home against Friends, which bested Ottawa 3-1 earlier this season. It snapped Ottawa’s 23-match winning streak against Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference schools.
