OU basketball teams fall in home openers

Ottawa University basketball home openers Tuesday went to nationally-ranked MidAmerica Nazarene in Wilson Field House.

The Ottawa men fell to the No. 15 Pioneers 83-59. The Lady Braves lost 82-63 to No. 8 MidAmerica.

The Braves rallied back from an early 10-point hole. Ottawa was within 33-26 in the final minute of the first half.

Ottawa opened the second half with an 8-4 run to come within 39-34. The Pioneers answered with a 22-4 run to lead 61-38 at the 10:41 mark.

Ottawa was led by Adam Hasty with 10 points.

Alex Lundry had a career-high 11 rebounds and seven points. Julian Rose finished with nine points. Freshman Alex Hasty netted six points.

Ottawa (1-1) plays Friday and Saturday in the KCAC/HAAC Classic at Peru State in Peru, Neb. Ottawa plays 7:30 p.m. Friday against Peru State and 1 p.m. Saturday versus Baker.

The Ottawa women struggled in the first half and fell behind 43-22 at halftime.

Ottawa found its offense in the second half with 41 points, but it came after MidAmerica opened a 32-point lead at 56-24.

Ottawa chipped away and cut the deficit to 13 with 6:16 left.

Amber Ramsey led Ottawa with 21 points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots.

Maddie Stewart came off the bench to fire in 14 points. Ashley Romig finished with 12 points and four rebounds.

The Lady Braves (0-2) play 5:30 p.m. Friday in Davenport, Iowa against No. 25 Saint Ambrose.
