Lady Braves soccer rallies past Friends

WICHITA — The Ottawa University women’s soccer team rallied in the final 19 minutes Tuesday to defeat Friends University, 2-1, in Wichita.

The Falcons took an early lead on the Lady Braves in the sixth minute of play. Emma Cuda scored off of a pass from Savanna Struck.

It wasn’t until the second half in the 81st minute, when Ottawa tied the match with Angelica Tapia’s goal.

Kallie Bindner scored the game-winning goal at the 86:39 mark.

Ottawa had a 15-2 advantage in shots and a 12-1 lead in shots on goal.

The Lady Braves (11-6-1, 7-2-0) play 2 p.m. Saturday at home against Sterling in the first-round of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament.

The Ottawa men’s soccer team fell 3-0 to Friends in the regular-season finale.

Friends had the 8-7 edge in shots and a 6-3 advantage in shots on goal.

Ottawa keeper Drinnan Sante finished with three saves.

Ottawa (5-9-4, 3-2-4) plays 7:30 p.m. Friday at Bethany in the first round of the KCAC Tournament.
