Carrier wins 300th

LAWRENCE — Ottawa University men’s basketball coach Andy Carrier picked up career win No. 300 Friday in the Braves’ 90-78 victory over  Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence.

Carrier is the winningest basketball coach in Ottawa history and needs just 11 wins to have the most wins of any coach in Ottawa history.

Carrier is the winningest basketball coach in Ottawa history and needs just 11 wins to have the most wins of any coach in Ottawa history.

Ottawa rode on the shoulders of Alex Lundry and Kameron Lindsay, who both had career highs.

Lundry fired in 28 points on 13-for-15 shooting from the floor. He was one rebound away from a double-double with nine.

Lindsay was right behind with 27 points. He went 10-for-15 from the floor and had a team high three steals.

Julian Rose led Ottawa with 10 rebounds. Lundry also had a team high three blocked shots.

Adam Hasty finished with 12 assists, which tied him for second in the Ottawa record book with former Brave and all-conference performer Matt Green in single-game assists.

The game was close early with six ties in the first eight minutes. There were a total of 10 ties in the first half. Ottawa used a 22-10 spurt in the final six minutes to open a 49-35 halftime lead.

Haskell kept charging at the Braves in the second half. Haskell was within 59-53 with just under 12 minutes left in the game. Ottawa went on a 9-3 spurt to take a 68-56 lead. Haskell came within 75-70 with five minutes left.

The Braves had a 22-2 advantage in transition points and hit 20 of 25 free throws. Ottawa shot 47 percent from the field.

Ottawa (3-3) plays 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Graceland in Lamoni, Iowa.
