OU runners weather the elements

LAWRENCE — The Ottawa University women’s cross-country team weathered the elements Saturday in the 2013 NAIA Women’s Cross Country National Championship meet at Rim Rock in Lawrence.

The Lady Braves, making just their second national meet appearance as a team, finished 32nd.

LAWRENCE — The Ottawa University women’s cross-country team weathered the elements Saturday in the 2013 NAIA Women’s Cross Country National Championship meet at Rim Rock in Lawrence.

The Lady Braves, making just their second national meet appearance as a team, finished 32nd.

Junior Chelsea Fullerton, racing in her third straight NAIA national cross-country race, led Ottawa in 207th with a time of 20 minutes, 13.26 seconds.

She is a three-time all-conference performer for the Lady Braves in cross-country.

She finished fifth in leading the Lady Braves to a second-place finish in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference meet two weeks ago in Winfield.

Freshman Jordan Calderwood placed 246th at 20:43.28. Senior Jena Richardson placed 291st at 21:37.96. Richardson was the lone senior and this was her final race as a Lady Brave.

Junior Makayla Wilkins was 304th at 22:02.57. Janelle Bailey took 306th at 22:04.25. Brittany Harrington finished 307th at 22:07.52, Freshman Hannah Jaloma was 312th at 22:30.50.
