The Central Heights High School wrestling team will rely on its toughness and experience.

The Vikings have three seniors and two juniors with wrestling experience and have high hopes for the season.

“Our senior leadership will be a strength of this campaign,” 11th year Central Heights coach Randy Hinderliter said. “I have been impressed with the scrappiness of this year’s squad.”

Seniors J.R. Dunnivan, Kaleb Grimsley and Dustin Elliott will lead the squad. Grimsley had a 25-12 record last year. Junior Eli Davis went 17-13 and junior Jacob Anderson was 14-14 last year.

“Even with forfeiting two weight classes, we look to do fairly well in dual meets,” Hinderliter said. “In most individual tourneys, we lack the horsepower to contend as a team, but we look to score primarily on the backside of tournaments.”

Other returners include Cody Asbury, Chance Schooler, Bryce Taylor, Wyatt Scott and Jimmy Louden.

Hinderliter said five freshmen, who have middle school experience, are learning fast.

“They will be fun to watch grow,” Hinderliter said.
