Jewell cruises past Ottawa men

LIBERTY, Mo. — The Ottawa University men’s basketball team came out slow and never could dig out of a big hole Tuesday in an exhibition game against NCAA Division II William Jewell College in Liberty, Mo.

The Cardinals carved up a 46-23 halftime lead and cruised to a 102-67 win over the Braves. Ottawa shot 34 percent from the field in the first half.

The Cardinals carved up a 46-23 halftime lead and cruised to a 102-67 win over the Braves. Ottawa shot 34 percent from the field in the first half.

The Braves were 18-for-35 in the second half to shoot 51.4 percent from the floor.

Ottawa was paced by junior Kameron Lindsay with 16 points on 6-for-9 shooting from the floor. Julian Rose finished with 10 points. Alex Lundry had a team-high nine rebounds.

William Jewell had five players in double figures led by Jordan Lewis with 26 points.

This was the final game before the holidays for the Braves. Ottawa (6-7) plays a nonconference home game Jan. 4 against Oklahoma Wesleyan University. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m.
