Washburn’s Cox selected All-American

Washburn University junior hitter Marissa Cox was named to a first team AVCA All-America in NCAA Division II.

The former Central Heights star became Washburn’s fourth AVCA first-teamer, and the school now has 10 total All-Americans and 20 total All-America awards.

The former Central Heights star became Washburn’s fourth AVCA first-teamer, and the school now has 10 total All-Americans and 20 total All-America awards.

Cox was also an AVCA and Daktronics all-Central Region first team pick and a first team pick on the all-MIAA teams. She finished first in the MIAA with a .337 attack percentage and third with 3.69 kills a set.

She reached double figures in kills 29 times this year and was named the MIAA hitter of the week five times. She ended the year third in Washburn career attack percentage history with a .325 mark, and she’s 20th with 885 kills.
